Rules of thumb
Measure in cubic metres
A one-bedroom flat is roughly 15–20 m³, a three-bedroom house 30–45 m³. Our 4.5 t pantech holds 20 m³ and the 8-pallet holds 30 m³ — so most three-bedroom moves are one big truck or two runs in a small one.
Two short trips beat one overloaded truck
Going up a class costs less than you think, but so does a second run in a cheaper vehicle. If you're within ten minutes of the destination, the smaller truck twice is usually the cheaper answer.
Check the licence before the size
The 4.2 m pantech is the biggest thing most people can legally drive on a car licence. Anything past it needs MR, and the 14-pallet tautliner needs HR. Licence first, size second.
