Everything people ring up to ask
Frequently asked
questions
If it is not answered here, ring 0402 157 360. Most questions take about a minute on the phone.
Booking & payment
Three ways, all of them fine. Use the booking page to check live availability, send us the details through the enquiry form on that page, or call 0402 157 360. If you are not certain what size you need, the phone is quickest — or work it out first with Which Truck Do I Need?
A full, current driver’s licence that you have held at least 12 months; a credit card in the hirer’s own name for the security bond; the licence of any additional driver, who must be present at pickup; and your ABN and company details if you are hiring on business. A learner or probationary licence is not sufficient.
You and any additional driver must be at least 21 and not over 75, with no less than 12 months of driving experience. We can sometimes vary that, but it has to be agreed in writing before the rental starts — ask when you book, not at the counter. Full detail is in clause 2 of the rental terms.
Yes. A bond is held against a credit card in the hirer’s name at pickup and released after the vehicle comes back and is checked. The amount depends on the vehicle class, and we tell you the figure when we confirm your booking rather than surprising you on the day.
Changes and cancellations made more than 24 hours before pickup are free of charge. Call 0402 157 360 with your booking reference and we will adjust it.
Usually yes, but ring us before the original return time so we can check the vehicle is not already promised to someone else. Extra days are charged at the standard daily rate for that class. Keeping a vehicle beyond the agreed return time without arranging it first is a breach of the rental contract.
Yes. Every rate shown on this site is the daily rate including GST. Bond, insurance excess and kilometre allowances are separate and are set out in the rental terms — we put the total in writing before you commit.
Vehicles & licences
It depends on the truck. Everything up to and including our 4.2 m pantech runs on an ordinary car licence. Larger pantechs, tautliners and tray trucks need MR or HR. Every card on this site shows the licence class before you book — and the full explanation is in What licence do you need to hire a truck?
As a rough guide, a three-bedroom house is a 5.5 m pantech in one load, or a 4.2 m doing two runs if the move is local. We walk through it room by room in Moving a 3-bedroom house: which truck fits it all?, or answer a few questions in Which Truck Do I Need?
Yes — a 1.5 tonne refrigerated van running to −18 °C, on a car licence. See refrigerated van hire. Long-term rates are quoted on enquiry.
Kilometre allowances depend on the vehicle class and the length of hire. We confirm the allowance in writing with your booking, and the terms governing it are in the rental contract. Ask before you book if you have a long trip planned.
Insurance & incidents
Our fleet is comprehensively insured and cover is included with every rental, subject to an excess and to the conditions in the rental terms. Damage cover options that reduce your excess can be added when you book. Some situations are excluded from cover — clauses 9 and 10 of the terms set out exactly which.
Make sure everyone is safe and call emergency services if anyone is hurt. Do not admit liability. Get the other driver’s name, licence, registration and insurer, photograph the scene, then tell us as soon as you can on 0402 157 360 and complete an incident report. Reporting obligations are in clauses 12 and 13 of the terms.
Call us. Our fleet is commercially maintained and covered for breakdown assistance — do not arrange your own repair or towing without speaking to us first, because unauthorised repairs are not reimbursed.
Pickup, hours & location
From our depot at Unit 3, 37 Richards Road, Hoppers Crossing VIC 3029, and only from there. We hire from one location — there are no pickup or drop-off points anywhere else — so every hire starts and finishes at the depot. We do hire to customers right across the west, including Werribee, Tarneit, Truganina, Point Cook, Laverton, Altona, Williams Landing, Caroline Springs, Footscray and Sunshine; you simply collect from Hoppers Crossing.
Not as a standard service, but yes as a special request. Tell us the address when you enquire and we will price it — the fee depends on how far it is and what the vehicle is. It is quoted and agreed before you book, never added afterwards. If we cannot do it on the day you need, we will say so rather than leave you waiting.
Monday to Friday 8:00am–5:30pm, and Saturday and Sunday 8:00am–12:00pm.
Often yes, if you arrange it in advance. Tradies and removalists starting at seven in the morning are most of our business — ask when you book and we will usually sort it out.
Business & trade
Yes. We invoice on ABN, and contractors get a 10% discount off standard daily rates. Couriers, removalists and trades on ongoing work are a large part of what we do — see business & trade hire.
Yes. Our best trade rates need a minimum of four weeks paid in advance — a 1 tonne van at $57, a 2 tonne hi-top at $65 and a 4.5 tonne moving truck at $85 per day. Overnight and weekly deals are on the current deals page.
